Benjamin Shein was born and raised in the Philadelphia area. After graduating from The Episcopal Academy in Merion, Pennsylvania, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1981. He attended law school and received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1984 from the University of Miami, School of Law in Coral Gables, Florida. He has been actively involved in protecting legal rights since 1977 when he served as a law clerk while still in high school. He became a practicing attorney in 1985 and has devoted 100% of his professional time and attention to seeking justice for injured people.

A renowned expert in mesothelioma and asbestos, Attorney Shein has lectured to doctors, lawyers, insurance representatives, and union leaders on asbestos exposure and disease. He is a founding member of Asbestos Victims against Default and Delay, and a member of Asbestos Victims of America. He is a respected leader among Philadelphia asbestos attorneys.

Benjamin Shein is a member in good standing of the bars of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the state of New Jersey and also of the local and state trial lawyers and bar associations. He is a member of the Leaders Forum of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and a sustaining member of Trial Lawyers for Public Justice.

Mr. Shein was appointed to the Board on February 12, 2020. His term commenced on April 1, 2020 for a period of three years. Mr. Shein was reappointed for a second, three-year term commencing, on April 1, 2023.
