Adverse Weather Statement

The Board of Law Examiners recognizes that inclement weather may create travel difficulties and other challenges for applicants sitting for the bar examination. Because the bar examination is administered on a fixed national schedule and under strict testing security requirements, and we know that applicants have spent significant time diligently preparing for the exam, the Board’s general policy is to proceed with administration of the examination as scheduled.

Each applicant should evaluate their travel conditions and applicable travel advisories to make their personal decisions regarding traveling to the examination site. The Board strongly encourages applicants traveling from outside the immediate area to consider arriving in advance of the examination dates when severe weather is forecast.

It is highly unlikely that the bar exam would be cancelled or delayed due to weather. If extreme circumstances prevent the standard administration, the Board will communicate updates through its official website and the applicant message center. Applicants are responsible for monitoring these sources for official announcements. To date, this has never happened.

Absent an official notice from the Board, applicants should assume the examination will proceed as scheduled. The Board appreciates applicants’ cooperation and understanding in the event of adverse weather conditions.
