Lawrence J. Moran, Sr. of Scranton, for more than four decades has been a trial lawyer
litigating in state and federal courtrooms throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania.
For 25 years he has held a dual certification from the National Board of Trial Advocacy
in Civil and Criminal law.
Mr. Moran concentrates his private practice in the representation of
victims of serious, catastrophic and fatal injuries caused by negligent
and intentional acts, product defects and civil rights violations.
He maintains a particular emphasis in the pursuit of civil justice for
handicapped and vulnerable children who have been traumatized by physical,
emotional and sexual abuse by their public school teachers and school districts.
He earned his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from the
University of Scranton. He obtained his law degree from Villanova University School of Law.
He previously served as the Chief Trial Lawyer in the Lackawanna County
District Attorney’s Office prosecuting major felony cases and as
General Counsel for Litigation for Lackawanna County where he supervised the
handling of a wide variety of lawsuits in which the county was a named
party. Mr. Moran currently serves as the Chief Public Defender for Lackawanna County.
Attorney Moran is the founder and principal of The Moran Law Group, LLC. He is
also Of Counsel to The Scranton based personal injury firm, Lenahan and Dempsey, P.C.
As of April 1, 2023, Mr. Moran is the Chair of the Board. He joined the Board
on June 9, 2019. He was appointed Vice-Chair and commenced in that
role on April 1, 2022. Mr. Moran was reappointed for a second term of
three years as of April 1, 2023.
