Bar Examination - Basics

The bar examination is administered twice a year, the last Tuesday and Wednesday of February and July. The examination is administered in two locations (Eastern and Western areas of the state). The first day of the examination will consist of two Multistate Performance Tests (MPT) questions and six Multistate Essay Examination questions. The second day of the examination is the Multistate Bar Examination (MBE). Both exam formats are prepared by the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE)

The February bar examination results are released in mid- April, and July bar examination results are released in mid- October. To be certified for admission to the bar requires both successful bar examination results and a positive character and fitness determination.
